This assessment seeks to better understand what types of legal migration pathways and other protection services Iraqi refugees and other migrants are aware of and attempt to access at different points during their migration journey. Furthermore, it highlights when, where and why Iraqi refugees and other migrants fail to access protection services.
Perceptions of internally displaced persons: northern Iraq
Survey and focus group discussion report
More than 300 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Iraq spoke with Ground Truth Solutions researchers in the urban areas of Erbil and Dohuk, as well as in Khazer, Hajj Ali, and Al Salamiyah camps. They said that they have trouble getting jobs in the local economy and that they need cash assistance and compensation for homes that they lost. IDPs generally do not feel that circumstances are improving for people in Iraq.
Perceptions of refugees: northern Iraq
Focus group discussion report
Ground Truth Solutions spoke with 49 Syrians at sites in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq. Syrians face severe problems in fulfilling their basic needs in camps and urban areas, and noted insufficient food, water, medical care, education, tents, gas and electricity. They said bribery, corruption, and favouritism hinder aid distribution, employment, access to information, and complaints mechanisms.

Movement back to Syria: Scenarios
Possible developments in Syria and neighboring countries over the next nine months
MMP and partner organisation ACAPS held a workshop with experts in September to explore scenarios on different conditions that could impact Syrians moving back to their country. This report summarises five scenarios that potentially could happen through mid-2018, including the likelihood of the scenarios occurring and their impact on the humanitarian situation.”
